Mindful Movement for Kids
Mindful Movement focuses on building coordination, physical awareness, and self confidence. We believe that children need to be exposed to all types of movement to create a range of capacities and develop interests that lead to a healthy, happy, lifestyle. Movement is critical to shaping physical, social and emotional growth and strengthening children's kinesthetic and spatial awareness. We specialize in movement with intention, an understanding that a solid developmental foundation through movement is necessary for the development of the whole child. Our program challenges children both physically and mentally in a positive and encouraging environment. Our movement classes provide children with the opportunity to play games, exercise, and have fun while also working on social interaction. We create an environment where children appreciate playing with each other prior to playing against each other. They learn to acknowledge one another and play safely while gaining a true appreciation for all types of movement. Each class contains a rhythm of active energetic games with a balance of calmer quieter games and fitness activities. With younger children physical education is tied to the imagination and exploration. Every lesson is developed specifically for the age group of that class and will meet each child at his/her level in a positive and encouraging manner. As children get older the games and activities will grow with them continually challenging both their mind and body.
School AgeAt this age children are ready for a little more challenge and skills development. With younger children we will focus on introducing activities that will provide them with the basic skills and coordination needed to move into structured sports and games. Older children will be introduced and have extensive instruction in traditional sports, aerobics and other complex fitness activities. We will focus on creating a team environment that teaches children to support and encourage one another.

TeensFor this age group Mindful Movement will bring a more specific approach focusing on aerobics, intense fitness, circuit training, sports, yoga, meditation and friendly competition. We will bring games and competitive activities that challenge both their mind and body.
